In 1953, MTA was founded as a cooperative of local telephone companies and has grown into the largest co-op in Alaska. Today, MTA supports the future of Alaska with AlCan ONE, the state’s only all-terrestrial fiber route to the contiguous U.S. The network provides diverse cloud and internet connection to four different Tier 1 regions, with 20-30% faster speeds and only approximately 75 milliseconds of round-trip latency. These diverse fiber route options, in multiple regions and points of presence (PoPs), are unmatched in the state.
